Have a Hobby—any hobby.
“You shouldn’t expect to churn out good ideas if you’ve stopped growing the organ that comes up with them.” Across all departments, exercise, art, music and others– outside hobbies can vastly improve your creative abilities. So do something, anything.

Set aside Creative Time
We get it. You come home, have dinner, help the kids with homework, walk the dog, clean up, put the kids to bed, shower—aaannndd it’s midnight already and you have work the next day. It’s frighteningly easy to get caught up in the same daily routine—but changing those routines helps boost creativity. Set aside some creative time. It doesn’t have to be every day, but at least one-hour a week to churn those creative juices.

Failure IS an option
Failure, normally depicted as negative aspect in society—is actually a form of knowledgeable creative risk-taking. A key to learning.

Use a pen and paper
“Something magical happens when you put pen to paper.Writing down an idea can help grow it into something substantial, whether that idea takes the form of a quick drawing, a color or the perfect adjective. This can be vital to the creative process, especially for visual work.”
